Snappy‘s school programs make dance accessible by providing students with dynamic, humorous, and innovative performance experiences. We integrate our dancers’ diverse backgrounds in puppetry, physical comedy, acrobatics, improvisation, ballet, modern dance, voice and movement, clowning, and martial arts into our assembly programs, workshops, and residencies.
Snappy's educational programs focus on:
- Using creativity in all aspects of life
- Developing trust in yourself and in others
- Actively practicing audience etiquette
- Critically responding to performance through
discussion and written reviews
- Making connections between dance theatre
and other subject areas.
Materials to download:
These materials prepare students for all of Snappy’s Educational Outreach programs and include background information about Snappy, vocabulary lists, preparation & follow-up classroom activities, and community resource lists.

Here are some quotes from schools, where Snappy has performed(If you would like to contact a school, where Snappy has performed, please let us know. We are happy to provide you with contact info and references.)
“We are very proud of our children's outreach program here and in my five years as director, I have never seen children respond more positively to any visiting guests"
Lillian Harder, Director of the Brooks Center for the Arts, Clemson University, Clemson, SC
“They [the students] were staring in awe when they weren't laughing--they were totally engaged."
Diane Waddell, Music Specialist, Sanborn Elementary School, Andover, MA
“The performance had it all, professionalism, creativity, live theatre,
modern dance, clean, tight choreography and gymnastic movement...Snappy
means hip, cool, innovative, and energetic--adjectives that describe the
work of Snappy Dance Theater."
Elizabeth Milligan, Green Meadow School, Maynard, MA
“Even our third graders were spellbound along with our oldest students. I am convinced that none of our students have ever seen such creatively conceived and choreographed dance pieces. I also appreciate your discussion with the students which was most age appropriate. It helped them understand how you develop your creative ideas."
David Johnson, Principal, John F. Kennedy School, Somerville, MA
“As a school, we spend so many of our assemblies talking about social, political, and health issues that it was a delight to be instead totally immersed in watching four artists interpreting fairly subtle human
dynamics through movement..”
Morgan Mead, Dean of Students, Buckingham Brown & Nichols, Cambridge, MA
“Snappy Dance Theater gave us an incredible experience. The workshops were fabulous. You gave us a new way of looking at what we do in class”.
Beth Carrey, The Greenwhich Academy, Greenwhich, CT
